Set up
Mark the final third of each service box as the deep zone and give each server a separate score.
Court: One pickleball court; use the named half-court lanes when instructed
Equipment:paddles, pickleballs
Solo setup: pickleball court
Run the drill
- Start at ten; subtract one for every deep serve and add one for every fault.
- Continue until the score reaches zero or the block clock ends, then record the lowest score.
Timing: about 10 minutes for the whole block. Use the stated repetition goal as a target and the scheduled block time as a hard ceiling.
Roles and rotation
1 player
- Player 1: server and scorekeeper; serves, updates the countdown, and retrieves balls
Rotate: No rotation; change court side halfway through.
Repetitions: One player receives every contact. Use the full block clock.
4 players
- Players 1 and 2: serve from one baseline, each keeping an individual countdown
- Players 3 and 4: serve from the opposite baseline, each keeping an individual countdown
Rotate: Alternate serving sides after a short sequence and change service boxes halfway.
Repetitions: All four players serve the same number of balls and maintain separate scores. No added time is required.
Targets and cues
- Reach zero by landing serves in the marked deep zone while avoiding faults that add a point back.
- Use the same pre-serve routine when the score is low; pressure should not change the motion.
Common failure: Rushing the next contact before the player has recovered position.
Good miss:A purposeful miss made while following the stated target and movement cue.
