Productive level range:3.5–5.0+, inclusive. This is practice guidance, not an official rating.

Set up

Put a feeder at the kitchen and a hitter at the opposite baseline with a clear path through midcourt.

Court: One pickleball court; use the named half-court lanes when instructed

Equipment:paddles, pickleballs

Run the drill

  1. From the baseline, hit a drive, then a drop, then a reset while moving forward through the court.
  2. Shuffle back under control, repeat the sequence, and switch feeder and worker halfway.

Timing: about 14 minutes for the whole block. Use the stated repetition goal as a target and the scheduled block time as a hard ceiling.

Roles and rotation

2 players

  • Player 1: kitchen feeder; supplies the balls needed for the drive, drop, and reset chain
  • Player 2: advancing hitter; completes the three shots while moving from baseline to kitchen

Rotate: Swap feeder and advancing hitter halfway through the block.

Repetitions: Each player receives equal complete three-shot sequences. Split the working time evenly.

4 players

  • Players 1 and 2: kitchen feeders; alternate feeds and judge completion of each shot
  • Players 3 and 4: advancing hitters; alternate complete drive-drop-reset sequences

Rotate: Feeders and advancing hitters swap ends halfway through the block.

Repetitions: One hitter works while the other recovers and collects; all players rotate through both jobs. Use two equal rotations within the block.

Targets and cues

Common failure: Rushing the next contact before the player has recovered position.

Good miss:A purposeful miss made while following the stated target and movement cue.
