Set up
Place a target in the opposite kitchen and mark stations several feet behind your kitchen, at midcourt, and near the baseline.
Court: One full side of a pickleball court from the kitchen line to the baseline
Equipment:paddle, pickleballs, court net, cones or flat targets, optional basket
Solo setup: pickleball court
Run the drill
- At the closest station, drop-feed a ball, let it bounce once, and lift a controlled drop into the opposite kitchen.
- Move back one station after landing three of five balls in the kitchen; work both forehand and backhand feeds.
- With one ball, let it land, retrieve or catch it safely, return to the station, and refeed before the next attempt.
- With a basket, leave each ball where it landed until the set ends, then collect the batch together.
Timing: about 15 minutes for the whole block. Treat each station target as a goal, not permission to exceed the scheduled time.
Roles and rotation
1 player
- Player 1: self-feeder, drop hitter, target judge, and ball collector
Rotate: No rotation; alternate the starting wing and court side between ladders.
Repetitions: The player hits and judges every ball, with retrieval determined by one-ball or basket mode. Collection and walking between stations are included in the block clock.
Targets and cues
- Make three of five at every station, then record the result of ten baseline attempts.
- Keep the paddle face stable, lift with the legs and shoulder, and preserve the same relaxed tempo as distance increases.
Common failure: Rushing the next repetition before returning to the marked station and rebuilding a balanced feed.
Good miss:A drop with safe net clearance that lands just beyond the kitchen while keeping the intended arc.
