Set up

Court: One pickleball court; use the named half-court lanes when instructed

Equipment:paddles, pickleballs

Run the drill

Roles and rotation

2 players

  • Player 1: opening dinker and resetter; hits contacts one, three, and five
  • Player 2: second dinker and attacker; hits contacts two and four

Rotate: Reverse the five-contact assignments after each short round.

Repetitions: Both players practise the speed-up and reset jobs equally. Split the working time evenly.

4 players

  • Players 1 and 2: first kitchen-line team; follow the count and assign one player the fourth-ball attack
  • Players 3 and 4: opposing team; one player receives and resets the fifth ball

Rotate: Rotate the attacker and resetter within each team after every short round; switch ends halfway.

Repetitions: All four players dink in the loop and rotate through attacking and resetting. No added time is required.

Targets and cues

Common failure: Rushing the next contact before the player has recovered position.

Good miss:A purposeful miss made while following the stated target and movement cue.
